For Hazel’s 4th birthday we did a Fairy Berry Birthday theme. I try to keep my kids birthdays creative, simple and do something I haven’t really seen before.. Although THAT is getting harder these days. Food is where things can REALLY get complicated. For her second birthday I way outdid myself with way too many complicated desserts. This year the food was really simple BUT delicious! I try to create a party that is going to bless my child and be practical. Its easy to get caught up in Pinterest, but I try to let is spark my creativity and inspire me rather than it setting the standard. Often times my best bet is NOT to look to what’s out there, but what kinds of things my children love and to things that I’m drawn to or make use of what I already have on hand. Often times those are the things that produce my BEST ideas.
I made a “Parfait Bar” with jars that I collected and repurposed by spray painting all the lids black and using little chalkboard stickers from Hobby Lobby. I did this collecting and cleaning process way in advance. I like to pick away at things a little at a time so that there isn’t SO much to do the night before or day of.
