If you’ve been following us this summer than you’ve most likely heard us mention “First Friday." It had humble beginnings almost three years ago and has now grown to over twenty shops/venues in downtown Waco.
The "First Friday" of every month downtown comes to life in a new way… it's hustling and bustling with excited citypeople and it's our chance to put on our best and host a gathering. Since you can’t be there, I wanted to take you inside the "Introducing the Classics" theme we created at the bijouterie & give you some tips on throwing your own!
We’re in the habit of being clever these days so at "Introducing the Classics" our friends found classic hardcover books punctuating the shelves, Pride & Prejudice playing on the screen… as well as our featured “classic" designs. Tried and true, can’t go wrong with classics. Namely, the Vasara, Splendor & Eclipse necklaces.
On the heels of classic books were Earl Grey short bread cookies to delight one’s taste buds, thus it's rightly named an “amuse bouche”. Although my favorite edition was the Lavender Infused Prosecco. Who knew!? But I’m sold… infused bubbly for all! It was a hit. Sparkling is always a classic.
Our event is never complete without live music and we always send our beloved customers away with something… Just for coming! A bookmark it is, for all those classics you’ll be inspired to dive into while wearing one of our (now your) classic jewelry pieces. I love the opportunity to provide our guests with gifts, specials, delicious sips & a wonderful evening! So go ahead… throw your own!
Here are some tips for throwing a “Classics” party. (recipes below)
1. Serve a signature drink!
2. Ask everyone to bring their favorite classic cookie recipe (when I think cookies I think shortbread, both simple & fancy!).
3. Bring favorite books to swap or take some time to give a review to the group so everyone can share in your latest find.
4. Watch a classic movie or have a Downton Abbey marathon.
If period drama isn’t your thing, then here’s a list of alternatives. These might not be your quintessential classics, but over time, they have become popular-hit-classics of their own right. ; )
Some of my favorites:
