November, my favorite month.
It was a welcomed gift that my third child was born in November. In Texas, it's starting to really feel like fall and we are able to light a fire (at least in the morning). Something about that crackling & warmth with the doors wide open and cool air filling the room. A cozy blanket in my lap and a cup of hot yumminess in my hands.
Cool weather inspires me and my heart knows that the holidays are coming... truly the most wonderful time of the year. At least, that's the hope...
As a child, this time of year meant more time with family, giving gifts and giving thanks. But the pressure has started to change this wonderful time into a time of obligation and overdoing. Amidst it all, I am committed to simplicity. To planning well and filling my days with what fills my soul. With thanksgiving around the corner I wanted to share with you ~ my table. It's not overdone, but it is beautiful and keeps the focus on the joys of the season.
I keep my menu simple and enlist the help of each family member or guest to bring their favourite dish to share. My place settings are my everydayware -- spruced up with sprigs of rosemary from my garden -- but you can use ANY herb -- or if you don't have a garden, just buy some at the grocery store!
I have a stash of shipping tags that I use for everything and for this occasion, they become not only place cards but also, the tablet in which everyone is encouraged to write something they are thankful for about each person. I find that this momento is a more meaningful party favour and one that my guests can cherish!
Plants, ribbon and chalkboards add warmth and depth to your decor AND can easily change with whatever you are celebrating. I try to steer clear of Pinterest this time of year and not allow it to detract and distract from the truest joys!
I hope that this table inspires you to allow your natural gifts to shine and be demonstrated when considering hospitality.
