The Belief of Beauty, Part II of Once Upon a Night of Magic

The Belief of Beauty, Part II of Once Upon a Night of Magic

For me, jewelry design and partnering with clients has been a gift. A connection between my deepest artistic senses and people. Everyday, normal, extraordinary people. Wanting women to find the piece that means something to them & causes them to remember their worth, and feel everyday feminine… THIS is my work.

So when it came to Waco, for Peter and I, we had to decide. We had to stake some claim to the beauty we wanted to see birthed in the somewhat sleepy downtown area, a city not known for its aesthetic. A city we were drawn to embrace and love.

We bought the historic 100+ year old Praetorian building, hoping to make a home for artists while signaling a statement of value for creating - art and beauty being critical to the core of any culture.

I set up my studio and we rented other studio spaces within the 4th floor to art-makers practicing their crafts. In the middle of the city center, a heart began pounding out life - symbolically and actually.

Lots of times, I’ve had to stand strong against a current, believing that beauty matters, that it has its place & impact in a culture that tends more toward efficient, obvious produce. Beauty can heal, inspire, refresh, IMPACT, lead - just in a different way than more overt means. The real life benefits, the appreciation for the delicate creation of something as “non-essential” as jewelry had grown inside of me. My dream to bring beauty & value to those around me wanted out!  So I let it grow bigger…

It’s easy to dismiss the value in yourself, which is ironic since it’s the very thing I seek to bring to others through my vocation. I’ve found that usually the thing that comes most naturally to someone is the gift or calling that is on your life! Which is such a relief, especially since we live in a society that calls us to constantly compete, improve & be more. When I finally decided just to rest in who God’s made me to be and let that be enough, that’s when things really started to become clear. I took some time while spending part of a summer in Canada to reflect. I retreated from media and all the noise. You know what I mean? Sometimes the world is so loud that you can’t hear.

I took long walks and took in all the natural beauty around me. One thing is for sure is that our creator has a thing for making beautiful things. Now isn’t that affirming? When everything was quiet, I was inspired. Beauty spoke and I went with it… All of my branding for my business was born out of that. I decided right then that everything would flow out of what was inside of me rather than what was out there.

What speaks to you? What is that thing that lives in you so deeply that it is longing to come out? What is the impact you want to bring to other people’s lives? Answering this question has been an essential part of shaping how I’ve shaped my business and presented my heart and passion.

Now you've heard about my dreaming made reality. I'm curious about yours. Think about adding our Linna earrings to your collection as something to remind you to keep going. The meaning behind their design is the old adage, "When one door closes, another one opens up!" Maybe you needed to hear that today? These beauties look like doors to me ~ hoping you'll walk through them...
